Why order an
unembroidered Sample?
Most people feel that sometimes
touching and putting your hands on it makes it even more believable.
As great as the pictures may be and as complete as the description
may be, it's still not a bad idea to order a sample to make sure you
like the item before we embroider it for you.
Can Samples be Embroidered?
Usually not.
We say usually because most people only want to check the quality of
the garment. However, if you want to check the quality of the
embroidery, we'll embroider your sample for a refundable
charge.
What is your minimum
quantity?
We are very understanding and realize that
not everyone will have the same need, we have embroider as few as 12
pieces at one time, but the cost may be prohibitively expensive and
we can do sample runs of less than 12 pieces. Our overseas
embroidery minimum is 36 Dozen.
Do you require a
deposit?
Yes before we start any embroidery
project we require a 50% Percent deposit.
What is
Embroidery?
Embroidery is the process of using a
needle and thread to decorate a fabric with patterns or designs.
Ancient paintings, sculptures and literary sources indicate that
embroidery was applied to clothing and other fabrics from very early
times. The craft has been practiced throughout history by many
cultures and has recently reached a new level of popularity with the
advent of computerized embroidery equipment. Modern embroidery
machines depend on a computer program to execute a design. The
machine itself is made up of two parts; the sewing head and the
rack. The sewing head acts like a conventional sewing machine, with
a needle that moves up and down through the fabric and anchors
itself under the surface with a bobbin thread. It's the rack that
distinguishes an embroidery machine from a sewing machine. The area
of the fabric that is to be embroidered is held taut in a hoop,
which is a two-piece frame that pinches the fabric around its edges
when the pieces are fitted together.
The hooped garment is
then firmly attached to the rack, which is a combination of motors
and sliding bars that can move from left to right and forward and
backward. When the program for a particular embroidery design is
written, or digitized, the digitizer plans every area of the design
and determines how long each stitch will be, in what direction it
will go, and in what sequence the various colors will be applied.
The computer then determines how quickly and in what direction the
machine needs to move the rack to have the needle sew in the correct
places on the fabric. The end result is a rich and dimensional
"painting" created from hundreds of colored stitches.
How do I get my design
Embroidered?
There are two ways to create a custom
design for embroidery. The most popular and least expensive way is
to choose one of the thousands of stock (already programmed) designs
www.dakotacollectibles.com and add lettering around it. For example,
a construction company wanting custom cap could choose a
pre-programmed design of a truck and have the name of the company
inserted over the truck and the phone number underneath. When the
design and lettering were stitched out using the appropriate company
colors, the customer would have individualized caps without the
expense of creating a design from scratch.
The second way of creating a design is custom
digitizing. When a company or group is already using a distinctive
logo, or when an appropriate stock design isn't available, the
design will need to be digitized. The cost of digitizing varies
greatly, depending on the size and complexity of a
design.
